They say
you either love Chennai or hate Chennai……honestly I don’t fall into either of
the category.
Reasons why
I stay in Chennai?
-
Born
& Brought up here
-
Recession
economy + debts = Forced to live in family home
-
Indian
Passport = Lack of jobs in places where I want to work
-
And
finally the few who still enjoy something what the British has left us with!
But I do
find it really funny when a person from North India or any other place coming
and cribbing about Chennai. The usual questions are:
-
People
are conservative
-
Food
is not to our liking
-
What
can we do in Chennai
-
Autos
are rude
-
The
place is dirty
Endless
list but these are some of the most popular excuses!
Let me
answer it one by one:
People are
conservative: Maybe you are barking at
the wrong tree but I do not think that I am going to land up in a pup in Delhi
and strike a conversation with someone on the perils of globalization. Most
likely I may end up getting mixed up in a cross fire!
Food is not
to our liking: I like bacon but I live with the fact that I am a Brahmin boy
from Mylapore! So if I really want bacon I have to pay an insane amount for it
or I just make it home! Your dal chawal crap is boring as hell. That is not the
end of the world. Btw, Dosa up North is the worst food you can have ever!
What can we
do in Chennai: If you want a discotheque which plays bangra music then sorry, I
cannot help you with it. People rave about Bangalore but apart from Eating and
Drinking I do not see anything done there!
Autos are
rude: One good point and when I compare it with Mumbai I lose hands down. Not
that other cities are great. Maybe if you are from Mumbai you are accepted to
make this statement, others please exclude yourself. There are pricks in your
city as well and well in Chennai every other guy is a prick!
The place
is dirty: Only a person from Singapore can make this statement while others can
go take a hike!
You come
live in our city and then you make these statements…..seriously if you hate the
city so much I think you should just leave. There is no point in sitting in one
place and then complaining about it and oh wait….you do not have work in your
city so you are here. A bloody refuge! More reasons for you the shut up and keep
quiet!
Love it or
hate it the city does has its charm and thanks to the British Empire (I meant
the actual one not the Beer maker) even the cost of beer is not too high for
me. That maybe the only grouse for me and well let me not start talking about
running (applies to India) as no place has the culture. The city is good and
fun and if you know the right people you may never leave it!
I can only agree about every statement in this post and Dude, you had me laughing hysterically from the food part itself .. ROFL LMAO .. Dal Chawal takes a massive blow :P hehe !!
ReplyDeleteJust came across this post! :D You're funny, esp the part about Singapore made me LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut, well said bro!
Erm...someone from North India told you Chennai is dirty? What bubble were they living in all their life?
ReplyDeleteI'm from Mumbai. Public transport IS a pain in every other city :D hee hee
