I was born a Brahmin and though I wonder how life would have
been had I born in a different Country and well wait…..why stop with a country,
maybe if I was born in a different planet I would have been an interstellar traveler
jumping from one galaxy to another!
Anyways I am not an interstellar traveler and with VISA regulations
I can’t even freely travel across my planet! Forget all that being 29 is tough
and well after sort of managing the quarter life crisis you now have to manage
the Brahminical Plot as well! I am sure this cuts across all religions and
communities but being a Brahmin (Or atleast that is what I am called) I guess I
have to go more through this than anyone else!
Never been the one who goes to temples, I have rejected the
whole theory of Brahminical religion as something which was recycled and
remixed over the years that the current version is as dirty as the Adyar River!
At an age where I should traveling the world and finding new
adventures I am stuck in a cube farm working a sort of job which luckily does
pays me (My previous work hardly paid me) counting till the weekend comes….what
I do in the weekend is different! Being in a city where the concept of night
life does not exist, it is tough but then with a few fellow insane people
around you, life does go on and you manage to survive.
One good thing is that despite being born a Brahmin, my
folks are liberal enough to practically give me a license to anything legal
with my life that tomorrow I can bring anyone in front of them and tell them I
am getting hitched to the person and still get away with it! Not bad…..but then
this so-called license officially was announced only recently so not that had I
known about it a zillion years I would have used it but then good to know something
exists!
Why I am talking about getting hitched now? I don’t mind
getting hitched if the girl is right! I don’t mind getting hitched today but
then the girl has to be right! I don’t want to be a person who goes through the
online portals and see some picture and then decide well that is going to be
the future Mrs! That is lame! I know it has worked for a lot of people but it
sure is lame! No Offence mates!
The question on when I will change my job or even when I
will get my next car is those for which I can actually answer! But then asking
me when I am going to get married is something which I can’t answer and even with
a super computer I won’t be able to answer! Why on the Earth are people so interested
in me getting married? Yes for those who are invited you will get a good spread
of food which will not include beer or beef but then but for the common random
stranger who I barely know why are they so interested?
I suggest if you are interested do hook me up with someone
on a date…..I am sure you cannot do that so I suggest you do keep quiet and don’t
ask me questions to which I don’t have an answer! The answer is simple and I
did put it across in this very post itself but don’t ask me the bloody question!
Honestly I am not even able to imagine a Brahminical wedding
for myself but having a beer & beef seems so common and normal! So the next
time you want to ask me a stupid question, to which I don’t have an answer, you
can expect a good rhetorical answer! I don’t have any other solution to it!
I don’t go around ask people who came first? The Chicken or
the Egg! Since I don’t so the people have to stop asking stupid questions and
unless if it is rhetorical then it is ok!
And FYI, there is nothing wrong in the Brahmin having beef
or having a pint! It is better than sitting and rotting and gossiping around!
You don’t need to do both! You advise me with health benefits of quitting both
but then don’t give BS like we are Brahmins so we should not do crap!
Oh for all the others who do say like because Brahmin eat
beef, the cost if beef goes up! Get over it mate, no one has patented beef to
you so take a hike!
Nearly forgot to put this but remembered it now, this is not
a Brahminical rant; I would have done the same if I was anyone else! Just because
I am part of the culture gives me to rant with the freedom as I have the inside
information! Don’t think you are holy now because I am ranting so if I was you
I would shut up and refrain from posting anti-Brahmin comments!
Everyone has stupid things, heck we are cool to write about
it! Peace Out!
A very BBB post :) You are right that similar situations exist in other groups as well. I believe the onus is higher among Brahmins, though I would not know clearly. A fellow Brahmin should comment I guess :P Now, marriage has, is and will always be a matter of economics. Everything else is just an addition or seasoning - can be done without or you do not need marriage for those reasons. Its a sad state of affairs!!
