Holy Cow and the Beef-Eater!

It is funny that I find it really irritating that many places where food is served and when you look at the menu you fail to see Beef in the menu! Ok, being a Brahmin and being a beef-eater is something not common! I am as rare as a Bengal Tiger and for the sake of future generations people like me should not become extinct!

Rig Veda the most ancient of texts and the one which atleast on principle still revered by a lot of people. Ok forget the post 1986 generation they would think Rig Veda is a new PSP game but ya coming back to good old Rig Veda and it is actually really really and really Old! For all practical sake I am not here talking about the whole Aryan race theory but I have to mention it as without I just cannot continue further into this topic as basically as per Rig Veda the Aryans ate beef and the Aryans still do eat beef! Aryans I mean the original folks who still sit in Siberia, Scandinavia and other parts of Europe all eat beet! And when a bunch decided to move south they continue to eat beef till they landed up in India. The Persian bunch did eat beef and the proof of it is today the Parsee eat it till date while on the other bunch something happened somewhere down the line where suddenly beef became a strict taboo! My mom will be happy for me to quit beef over beer! I would not do both but still!

Somewhere along the line all the non-Brahmin folks decide to stop eating beef and if this is not a major event the Brahmin folks went one step further, they not only quit beef they decide to quit meat itself and forcing all the future folks to follow rules which were never in the Rig Veda itself! Have to give it to Rig Veda as it talks about Atheism and Existentialism well long before anyone talked about it and it gave a guy to do what he chooses but then someplace these texts were forgotten and the anti-beef-eater campaign spread upon!

There was a time when Brahmin folks gave a new meaning to beef steaks but from being the greatest beef-eaters we went on to become plant eaters in no time! I know killing animals is not good but then dude it is survival of the fittest and eating green which gives us oxygen is also no good! Anyways yes Brahmins have strange rituals and stuff and who does not have it and I find most of it ridiculous anyways the truth is that Rig Veda has been raped and only things which is of convenience has been taken while the democratic stuff has been left out!

So there is nothing wrong in anyone eating beef and I still find it even more stranger when a meat eater says eating beef is akin to eating God! WTF! It is holy that you butcher a goat and have a nice meal out of it but when it comes to beef you suddenly have different standards! Atleast the grass eater has some principles!

Anyways this is a never ending debate which will go on for centuries and maybe when mankind is rebooted to stone age where survival becomes a key issue you may have grass eaters running after fellow humans while meat eaters hunting down vegans!

  1. "a meat eater says eating beef is akin to eating God!" - Which joker said that? I think you should go to Kerala often ;) Culinary tastes and desires in the same are really as restricted as how people in India treat sex at times. Strange indeed !!
